2024 CRICKETER CUP: First Round

The First Round of The 2024 Cricketer Cup is on Sunday 9th June, when OMT will play in the highly prestigious competition against Lancing Rovers, at 11.30am on The 91ÇÑ×Ó 1st X1 Ground at Sandy Lodge.

The winners of this match are then drawn to play away to Old Malvernians or Sherborne Pilgrims on Sunday 30th June in the 2nd round.

OMT will be captained by Aaran Amin (2018), a Cambridge University Blue and the 2024 CUCC Vice-Captain. A number of players from the very successful School teams of recent years will be playing for OMT, including Samir Sadarna (2020) - also a Cambridge University Blue - and former School captain David Justus (2022), alongside 1st XI cricketers Guganesh Muriltheran (2022), Ariyen Patel (2022) and Avi Shah (2021).

This is OMT Cricketer Cup’s first home match since 2022, and it will be designated an OMT Cricketer Cup Memorial Day and match in special memory of three of its great and loyal supporters, who are sadly no longer with OMT. These include Julian Hill, after whom the new 91ÇÑ×Ó Indoor Cricket Centre is named, and whose Company, Hill Oldridge Ltd, has been a generous sponsor to OMT Cricketer Cup over many years. Steve Jenkins is also of note, whose Trust fund, The SPJers, has also been a sponsor to OMT. Finally, it pays homage to the recently departed Tony Wright. Tony was one of the greatest ever OMTs, having acted as OMT Society Chairman for twelve years, having also acted as its President. OMT will honour all three by flying the OMT flag at half mast, and having a minute of silence in their memory prior to the start of the match.

OMT and School supporters are very welcome to attend and support OMT, who invite and advise supporters to bring their chairs and a picnic. OMT will provide complimentary coffee/tea/biscuits in The Cricket Pavilion up to Noon and a very nice complimentary afternoon tea there from 5.00 pm during the second innings. The match will be live-streamed by All World Wide. and may be followed electronically via , or (search via matches, fixtures and results).
